Is it a condition for giving Zakat that it be handed directly from the giver to the recipient, or is it permissible to do so through an agent, and is it necessary to inform the recipient that this money is Zakat?

The Muzakki (payer of ) is not required to deliver the Zakat himself; rather, he may appoint a trustworthy person to do so. It is not obligatory to inform the poor person that it is Zakat; concealing this is preferable to preserve his dignity. The intention must be present when giving it to the poor person or to the agent.
