The answer

If the card is covered [i.e., backed by an equivalent amount of money], then buying gold, silver, or currencies with it is permissible, due to the availability of equivalence (al-tumathul) and immediate possession (al-taqabud), which has been affirmed by the Islamic Fiqh Academy. However, if the card is not covered, then it is not permissible to buy gold, silver, or currencies with it, and this has also been decided by the Islamic Fiqh Academy.
