Scholars have differed on the ruling concerning the of jewelry, and the more cautious approach is to pay it. If the gold is your property, then you may pay its zakat as a precautionary measure, and you are not obliged to obey your wife if she prevents you from doing so. However, if your husband lent it to you, then he is the owner and he should pay its zakat if he wishes to take the precautionary approach.
