Is it permissible for a student of Islamic studies to continue studying in a department that adopts Ash'arite curricula, given the unavailability of an alternative with a different methodology?

Whoever has studied the methodology of the Salaf in creed incurs no sin in studying other methodologies with the intention of understanding them, guiding students, and engaging in dialogue with them in the best manner. Indeed, Shaykh al-Islam and Ibn al-Qayyim studied the scholastic methodologies to refute their proponents. It is recommended to study books on the methodology of the Salaf in creed, such as the introduction to Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani’s Risala, Al-Wasitiyyah, and Al-Tahawiyyah with their commentaries, and Kitab al-Tawhid (definition) and its commentaries. Time should also be dedicated to reciting the Qur’an with contemplation and studying books of the Sunnah (definition). In case of disagreement, one should supplicate with the prayer narrated in Sahih (definition) Muslim: “O Allah, Lord of Jibril, Mika’il, and Israfil, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, You judge between Your servants concerning that wherein they differ. Guide me to the truth concerning that wherein they differed, by Your leave, for You guide whom You will to a straight path.”
