What is the ruling on one who claims that his mother speaks in her grave, and that senior Sufis see the Preserved Tablet, and he aspires to compete with them in it, citing his statement: "Why do I feed on the crumbs of the tables of the generous and not search as they searched to compete shoulder to shoulder with the great Sufis like Al-Ghazali who look into the Preserved Tablet, so what is my standing in the darkness of ignorance, while Ibn Taymiyyah reads in the Preserved Tablet and foretells the unseen future?"

The fundamental principle regarding the deceased is that they are in a barzakh (definition) (interim) life, which differs from our worldly life. Thus, they do not speak in the way we do, and the claim that the dead address people after their death contradicts this principle.

The claim that great Sufis look into the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfūz) and that Al-Ghazali and Ibn Taymiyyah read from it and foretell future unseen events, are all false beliefs. For the knowledge of the Preserved Tablet and the unseen within it is something Allah alone has reserved for Himself, and there is no way for creation to access it, as substantiated by the noble verses: (Say: None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah) [An-Naml: 65], (And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except He) [Al-An'am: 59], (He is the Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone Except whom He has approved of messengers) [Al-Jinn: 26-27], (Say: I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what Allah wills. And if I had known the unseen, I would have acquired much wealth, and no evil would have touched me) [Al-A'raf: 188]. And in the Hadith (definition) of Aisha: "And whoever claims that the Prophet (peace be upon him) informs of what will happen tomorrow has certainly committed a grave fabrication against Allah, and Allah says: 'Say: None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah.'"
