Belief in divine decree (al-Qadar (definition)) is a pillar without which faith is incomplete. It means that Allah Almighty is all-knowing, the Creator of all things, and everything that occurs in the universe is by His will and decree. Allah inscribed all of this in the Preserved Tablet (al-Lawh al-Mahfuz) before the creation of the heavens and the earth. It is not permissible for a Muslim to delve into the secret of divine decree or question the wisdom of Allah's actions, as these are matters Allah has kept exclusively to His knowledge. Indeed, a human being does not know where their happiness or best interest lies, and Allah's decree is always good and wise, even if it appears to be evil outwardly.

Regarding a girl's insistence on marrying a specific person despite her parents' objection, it is not permissible for parents to prevent her from marrying a suitable man who is religious and of good character. However, the girl must obey her parents unless she fears falling into sin by abandoning him, in which case she is permitted to marry then. If her father prevents her from marrying a suitable man, the ruler or her more distant guardian can arrange her marriage.
