Does lying nullify faith, and is all lying classified as a grave sin?

Lying is forbidden (haram (definition)), and some jurists have gone so far as to say that it is among the major sins (kaba'ir). Lying is not disbelief (kufr) that expels one from the fold of Islam, but rather it is a branch of disbelief and a practical hypocrisy. Lying that results in corruption is considered a major sin, whereas minor lying that does not result in corruption is considered a minor sin, though there are those who have also said that it is a major sin.
