The answer

The verse: "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves" means that Allah does not remove blessings from a people unless they transition from faith, obedience, and gratitude to disbelief, disobedience, and ingratitude, whereupon Allah takes those blessings away from them. Similarly, if people change from disobedience to obedience, Allah changes their condition from misery to goodness. Thus, blessings do not vanish and misfortunes do not befall except because of sins and acts of disobedience. And if a servant changes what is in himself from disobedience to obedience, Allah changes his condition from punishment and humiliation to well-being and honor.
