Is it permissible to carry the name Muhammad written in a specific way, or to write it and then soak it and drink its water, or to hang it on a sick person or a woman experiencing difficult childbirth, or on the left side of the chest for protection, as mentioned in a paper distributed in Abu Darda Mosque in Damascus?

The scholars stipulate three conditions for the permissibility of ruqyah (definition): that it be with the names of Allah, or His words, or His attributes, or what has been authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace; that it be in the Arabic language; and that one believes it does not have an effect in itself, but rather by the decree of Allah.
