Is there in Islam a principle of hierarchical order for angels?

Angels are honored and distinguished servants, some of whom are superior to others and closer to God. The best of the angels are Gabriel, Michael, and Israfil. Gabriel (peace be upon him) is the best of the angels; he is the Holy Spirit and the Trustworthy Spirit. His mission is to convey divine revelation to the messengers. God has described him with noble attributes that indicate his virtue, strength, and trustworthiness. Also, the angels who witnessed the Battle of Badr are among the best of the angels. Among the archangels are the keepers of Hell, who are the Zabaniyah, and their chief is Malik.

There is no concept of a "hierarchical order" for angels in Islam; rather, there is a distinction among them in virtues and functions without a specific hierarchical sequence.
