Is asking God to support us with His angels for protection from devils considered polytheism, especially when reciting Ayat al-Kursi with the intention of seeking help from God, who uses angels as tools for protection?
It is permissible for a person to ask Allah to extend His angels to him and to recite Ayat al-Kursi with the intention of being guarded by angels, keeping in mind that the angel will protect him after reciting it, as mentioned in the of Abu Hurairah concerning the protection offered by Ayat al-Kursi. The Prophet (peace be upon him) also asked his Lord to support Hassan ibn Thabit with the Holy Spirit, who is Jibril (peace be upon him). This is not considered polytheism () because the supplication is directed to Allah alone. Nevertheless, it is preferable to limit oneself to asking Allah for help and protection without specifying the means, such as saying: "O Allah, grant us victory, assist us, and protect us"; and to recite Ayat al-Kursi with the intention that Allah protect him, with his heart attached to Allah alone.
