What is the ruling on some people saying that a twitch in the right eye is a bad omen?

Pessimism regarding an eye twitch is a prohibited form of pessimism, considered minor shirk (definition), and an act of the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade at-tiyarah (pessimism based on what is seen, heard, or known), and informed us that it is shirk. The cure for pessimism is to rely on Allah and to say: "O Allah, there is no good except Your good, and no bird (omen) except Your bird, and there is no god other than You." A believer should be optimistic and have a good opinion of their Lord.
