What is the ruling on studying Pharaonic or ancient Egyptian history in general, given that it is the history of a people who disbelieved in God, and what is the ruling on studying it given that it requires dealing with artifacts such as statues and inscriptions on the walls of tombs and temples?

The Islamic Sharia (definition) has called for examining the conditions of past nations to draw lessons, not to glorify them or revive their symbols. Therefore, the study of history in general, and Pharaonic history in particular, is permissible if it aims to draw lessons, increase faith, and avoid past mistakes. However, if it leads to the glorification of idols and tyrants, or the revival of racism, or the weakening of Islamic identity and the fragmentation of the Ummah's unity, then it is forbidden by Sharia.
