To draw attention to the vastness of Allah's mercy and His forbearance with the polytheists. Its four repetitions confirm that the attribute of Al-Rahman contradicts the claim of a son, and that every existing being is in need of His mercy.

2. In Surat Ya-Sin: "Al-Rahman" was mentioned instead of "Allah" because the context speaks of Allah's mercy and His favor with which He created man, and Al-Rahman is a name indicating tenderness and mercy.

3. In Surat Az-Zukhruf: The frequent mention of "Al-Rahman" (seven times) is an affirmation of the call to Allah and a clarification of His vast mercy. It addresses the polytheists by the name "Al-Rahman" because it was a name they knew, to indicate that the God they are called to worship is Al-Rahman, who has no son.
