Why did the Quran not mention verses of punishment for the people of Ibrahim and the people of Isa (peace be upon them), despite their disbelief and enmity towards their messengers, compared to the mention of verses of punishment for the peoples of other prophets such as the people of Nuh, Musa, Lut, ʿAd, and Thamud?

First, Abraham's people were afflicted with punishment. The Qur’an mentions that they were destroyed by the destruction of their king, Nimrod, and the deprivation of their blessings. Perhaps the wisdom behind not detailing the punishment in the Qur’an is that Abraham's missionary task did not cease with the destruction of his people; rather, it continued, and Allah blessed his descendants with prophets and scriptures.

Second, the people of Jesus were not subjected to a general destruction, because scholars believe that after the revelation of the Torah to Moses, Allah Almighty did not destroy disbelieving nations with a general punishment. Rather, He legislated Jihad and commanded the believers to strive against the disbelievers. This is supported by the statements of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and Sheikh al-Sa'di, and the Hadith (definition) of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, which states that Allah did not destroy any people with a punishment from the heavens after the revelation of the Torah, except for the people of the town who were transformed into apes.
