The answer

Raising children in goodness and righteousness is a shared responsibility between both parents, for Allah, the Almighty, says: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a fire." Children are trusts and a religious and worldly responsibility.

If the parents fulfill their duty regarding their children's upbringing, and then the child goes astray, their responsibility before Allah is absolved, for guidance is in Allah's hands.

The righteousness of a child brings good to their parents in this world and the Hereafter, including the righteous child's supplication for their parents after their death, which elevates their ranks. Such a child is a joy to their parents.
