Is it permissible to name one's son "Hasab ar-Rasul" and what does it mean?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
It is permissible to name a newborn "Muhammad" seeking blessings from the name of the Prophet, peace be upon him, based on the : "Name yourselves with my name." The Companions also named their children with this name. As for naming "Hasab Al-Rasool" (meaning "sufficient is the Messenger"), it is forbidden, because "hasab" means "sufficient," and Allah alone is the All-Sufficient.
