Is it permissible to name a newborn "Al-Masih" (the Messiah)?

Scholars have mentioned that the disliked and forbidden names are those that involve servitude to other than Allah, or are exclusive to Allah such as (Ar-Rahman), or have a blameworthy meaning such as (Harb - war), or have no meaning such as (Mimi), or involve self-praise such as (Barrah - pious woman). There is no shar'i prohibition on naming with 'Al-Masih' (the Messiah), but it is preferable to choose names that the Sharia (definition) encourages, such as ('Abdullah and 'Abdur-Rahman), especially since Muslims have not accustomed themselves to using this name.
