The answer

What is considered for the slaughter of the ' and the is the intention of the one who commissions it, not the agent. So, if the one who commissions it intends that the 'aqiqah is for himself, it is valid for him, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, actions are by intentions, and for every person is what he intended." The agent's intention that the 'aqiqah is for himself or for his daughter does not matter; it is akin to two sheep being slaughtered as common property.
