What is the ruling on sacrificing a single 'aqiqah for twin males?

The Maliki school of thought holds that one 'aqiqah (definition) (sacrifice) of a single sheep is to be offered for each newborn, whether they are twins or a single birth. Their evidence for this is the practice of Ibn Umar and Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, and the statement of Imam Malik: "The practice among us regarding the 'aqiqah is that whoever performs it, performs it for his child with one sheep for each, both for males and females." The issue of twins in the 'aqiqah is not a point of dispute among scholars, as they have agreed that if two are born from one womb, a single 'aqiqah is not sufficient for both; rather, two 'aqiqahs are necessary. This is based on what was narrated from Al-Layth ibn Sa'd, and what was mentioned by Ibn Abd al-Barr, Al-Nawawi, and Ibn Hajar.
