Is a foreign wife considered Muslim if the husband claims she is Muslim, even though she does not perform the duties of Islam? Is a husband residing in a European country held accountable for not teaching his children the Arabic language and the teachings of Islam? What is the ruling on a husband who does not pray or fast and postpones repentance and prayer?

Living in non-Muslim lands poses a danger to one's religion and children, and it worsens by marrying non-Muslims. Merely uttering the two testimonies of faith (Shahadatain) without submitting to the rulings of Islam does not make one a Muslim. The father is responsible for teaching his children the obligations of their religion. Abandoning prayer and fasting is a grave danger for a Muslim, and saying "I will pray in the future" is procrastination from Satan. Continue inviting this man [to Islam], for guidance at your hands carries a great reward, as he may guide his wife and children, and you will have the reward of one who points to good.
