The "fitnah of the chest" has been interpreted in some lexicons as obsessions (), while some scholars have explained it as a man dying without repentance, or as the malice, envy, and unsound belief harbored within the chest, or the constriction referred to in His (the Most High's) saying: {And whoever He wills to forsake, He makes his breast tight and constricted}.
