Are the distinct scents of soap or shampoo that linger after washing considered among the forbidden fragrances for women? What is the ruling on entering a room where perfume has been sprayed, which then clings to clothes and can be smelled? Are scents such as mint, lavender, and vanilla considered perfumes?

When a woman leaves her home, she should not apply any perfume that emanates a strong scent, whether it be a fragrance, soap, or shampoo with a lasting smell. This is based on the : "Any woman who applies perfume and then passes by people so that they may smell her fragrance, she is a fornicator." However, when she is with her husband, she may perfume herself as she wishes.
