Is it permissible for a woman to leave the house with the incidental scent of perfumes, such as shampoo and fruits, or scents that clung to her unintentionally?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade women from going out perfumed in such a way that men could smell a pleasant scent from them, which might arouse their desires. He commanded them to go out "tafilah," meaning ill-smelling, as stated by Al-Khattabi and Ibn Abd al-Barr. This is so that they do not incite men with their perfume. This prohibition extends to anything that arouses desire, such as beautiful clothes and conspicuous adornment. If a woman finds a pleasant scent on herself that can be smelled, she must remove it with water before going out.
