The answer

The Maliki jurists' opinions on the ruling of wearing garments made of khazz (a type of silk/wool fabric) can be summarized into four views, the most preponderant of which is that it is tanzih (disliked in a way that is closer to permissible than prohibited). As for a garment embroidered with silk, it is permissible to wear it if the embroidery is the size of four fingers or less, and the "line of knowledge" (a term referring to a small, permissible amount of silk used for decoration) is allowed even if it is large. However, wearing a silk garment or using it as a covering such that it does not directly touch the body is forbidden according to the Malikis, even sitting on it, even with a barrier. Regarding a garment where there is doubt whether it is silk or khazz, the Maliki jurists state that what is doubted to be forbidden should be avoided, but the prohibition is not asserted with certainty.
