What is the ruling on half of the shin, and what is the meaning of the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him, "Whoever drags his garment out of pride"?

It is preferable for a believer's lower garment (izar) and upper garment (thawb) to reach mid-calf. What is between that and the ankles is permissible. However, whatever falls below the ankles is in the Fire, and whoever drags his garment out of pride, Allah will not look at him.
