What is the ruling on plucking eyebrows (al-Nams) with the husband's knowledge, and is it permissible for a woman to go out with it if people see it? Is the justification offered by some female callers to Islam (da'iyat) citing the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): "Remove from yourself harm as much as you can" correct?

The opinion permitting epilation (al-nams) for a married woman is held by some scholars. They base their argument on the of Aisha: "If you have a husband and you are able to remove your eyeballs and make them more beautiful than they are, then do so." Although some may incline to this view, the preponderant opinion is that epilation is absolutely forbidden, and there is latitude in trimming (al-haff) for those who have a need for it.
