Is a refusal by an engineer to do photography at work—because he believes this task is unfitting for him as an engineer—considered arrogance?

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim differentiated between nobility of the soul (sharaf al-nafs) and arrogance (at-tih). Nobility of the soul is preserving it from base and ignoble acts, whereas arrogance stems from self-admiration and disdain for others. He also differentiated between self-preservation (as-siyanah) and haughtiness (at-takabbur). One who preserves their soul and religion avoids sins and their consequences, while the haughty person aims to dominate others.
