How are marriage ceremonies conducted, and what types of musical instruments and singing are permissible therein as a declaration of the marriage and an expression of joy in a way that pleases Allah and His Noble Messenger?

Islam called for the public announcement and declaration of marriage, and encouraged joy, amusement, beating the daff (tambourine), congratulations, and holding a wedding feast. However, this announcement and joy are governed by the controls of Sharia (definition), so it is not permissible to commit forbidden acts such as intermingling (of sexes), ostentatious display (of beauty), and music.
