The answer

It is permissible to rejoice at abandoning the sin of listening to music, and to inform people of your repentance, out of pride in the religion and as an invitation for others to follow suit, just as Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) did when he announced his conversion to Islam. However, the following should be observed:

1. Attributing the favor of guidance solely to Allah. 2. Praising Allah for the blessing of guidance. 3. Not being arrogant towards Allah by abandoning sin, for submission to His commands and prohibitions is a requirement of servitude. 4. Not being arrogant or disdainful towards those addicted to forbidden music, but rather looking at them with compassion and working towards their guidance. 5. Striving to abandon all prohibitions, not just listening to forbidden music.
