The answer

It is permissible to listen to foreign songs and others, if they are free of musical instruments and anything that incites immorality and temptation, and their lyrics do not contain any religiously prohibited content, and they do not deter one from the remembrance of Allah and performing obligatory duties. Imam Ahmad interpreted the Hadiths that permit singing as referring to singing that does not stir desire, such as the singing of travelers, which does not contain anything that incites base human nature, and similar to poetry that does not contain anything that incites base human nature to desire.
