The question

Is inviting members in forums to pray upon the Prophet or to engage in collective tasbeeh and takbir an innovation (bid‘ah), or is innovation (bid‘ah) limited to counting on pebbles and prayer beads? And does the hadith, "Whoever introduces a good practice (sunnah hasanah) will have its reward and the reward of those who act upon it," apply to this?

The answer

We advise you to associate with scholars, study the linked to evidence, and ask them about what is unclear to you. Also, perform abundant night prayers ( al-Layl) and supplicate with the reported (Ma'thur) prayers. Avoid argumentation without knowledge, for it is a sign of deviation and may lead to speaking about Allah without knowledge.

As for gathering for remembrance (), it is not judged as an innovation (bid'ah) unless it involves a method, a specific number, time, form, or a unified recitation that has no proven legitimacy. Many hadiths indicate the permissibility of gathering for dhikr—provided it is free from any religiously forbidden elements—among them, that angels encompass gatherings of dhikr, mercy envelops them, tranquility descends upon them, and Allah mentions them among those with Him.

Regarding tasbih with prayer beads (misbahah), a detailed explanation has been previously provided. As for placing an advertisement encouraging prayers upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) in forums, this is not among the forbidden collective dhikr; rather, it falls under mutual advice and enjoining good.
