Is the student of Sharia knowledge, while reviewing his studies, considered to be included in the Qudsi Hadith: "And whoever remembers Me to himself, I remember him to Myself"?
Seeking sacred knowledge and dedicating oneself to it is a form of remembrance (). A group of scholars have interpreted gatherings of remembrance as gatherings of knowledge, stating that remembrance is not limited to tasbih (glorification) and tahlil (proclamation of God's oneness), but also includes recitation, learning, and teaching.
Al-Nawawi said: "Everyone who acts for Allah Almighty in obedience is remembering Allah Almighty." Ata' said: "Gatherings of remembrance are gatherings of what is lawful and unlawful: how you buy and sell, pray and fast, marry and divorce, and perform Hajj." It is stated in Fath al-Bari by Ibn Hajar: "The remembrance of Allah also refers to diligently acting upon what He has enjoined or recommended—such as reciting the Quran, reading , studying knowledge, and performing voluntary prayers." Al-Kirmani said: "And (dhikr) encompasses prayer, reciting the Quran, reciting hadith, teaching sciences, and debating with scholars."
Therefore, whoever studies books of (Quranic exegesis), Hadith, or Fiqh (jurisprudence) is hoped to be included among those who remember Allah secretly within themselves.
