The question

Is what the questioner saw in their dream a true vision or a self-discourse, and is it to be taken literally if it is a vision, and is it possible for someone with major sins - such as the temptation of looking at women - to be a lover of Allah and His Messenger?

The answer

First: Looking at women is a great temptation. You must strive against yourself and your desires, repent, increase in acts of obedience, remembrance (dhikr), and supplication (dua), seek help from your wife, and fast. Your dislike of evil is a sign of your faith, and a righteous dream may be an indication of repentance. Strive against yourself and Satan, and continuously repent to Allah after every sin.

Second: A disobedient person may love Allah and His Messenger, but his faith is incomplete. True love for Allah necessitates obedience to Him. There is a fear that whoever persists in disobedience may find his love for Allah weaken and be taken away from him.
