To what extent are the campaigns widespread on Facebook groups calling for an agreement among group members to recite a complete reading of the Qur’an (khatmah) with a specific intention, or a million acts of seeking forgiveness (istighfar) or prayers upon the Prophet (Salah an-Nabi), or the recitation of a particular supplication (du'a), valid? And is it Islamically permissible to act upon them?

Reciting acts of virtue, encouraging them, and calling for their increase is a good deed and a form of cooperation in righteousness and piety. However, a group committing to a specific (remembrance) at a specific time should be avoided, lest it become an additive innovation (bid‘ah idafiyyah).
