Is it obligatory for a new convert to Islam to dispose of photographs and memorial photo albums of animate beings, as well as bird-shaped dolls, that she acquired before embracing Islam?

It is not permissible to draw or photograph living beings, nor to hang or keep their pictures, unless they are digital images (video, computer, mobile), because they do not fall under the ruling of a fixed image. Angels do not enter a house in which there are pictures, and paper pictures must be destroyed.

As for keeping and selling children's dolls, it is permissible, due to the permission granted for this to children, and 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) playing with dolls in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Ibn Hajar said: "This hadith (definition) is used as evidence for the permissibility of making pictures of girls and toys for girls to play with them, and this is specifically excluded from the general prohibition against making images."
