The answer

A Muslim who dies in a car accident is hoped to attain martyrdom due to its resemblance to the death of one who dies under a collapsed structure. It is permissible to pray for mercy for them, supplicate for them, give charity on their behalf, and dedicate the reward (of good deeds) to them, and knowing their name is not a condition. It is permissible to ask Allah to gather you with them in Paradise, alongside the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous, and that you be one who loves them and acts according to their deeds. It is not permissible to pray for mercy for non-Muslims.
