The answer

The forbidden division is for the Ummah (Muslim nation) to become sects and factions, with some declaring others to be disbelievers, or deeming them astray. Allah has forbidden division in religion and commanded adherence to His rope (the Quran). The reason for this division is whims, the pursuit of satanic desires, and turning away from religion. This does not include jurisprudential disagreements on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) matters, as these do not lead to declaring others disbelievers, immoral, or astray among jurists. Division results in Allah's wrath upon those who cause it, the enemies being given dominance over them, and their affairs becoming weakened.
