When is the funeral prayer performed before transferring the deceased for burial in his hometown?

The time for the funeral prayer (Salat al-) begins upon verification of death. It is best to pray over the deceased before transportation. It is permissible for someone who did not pray over the deceased to pray over him again, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed over the woman who used to sweep the mosque, after his companions had already prayed over her.
