A sick person is permitted to refuse the installation of a cardiac resuscitation device, and by doing so, they are not considered suicidal. This is because treatment is not obligatory according to the majority of scholars. Treatment with permissible, -compliant medications is recommended, but there is no sin upon one who chooses not to take them. Similarly, it is permissible to use contraception when there is a need, such as the husband's illness or his weakness in caring for his children, provided the wife consents. However, it is not permissible to use contraception out of fear of poverty.
