The answer

We have no definitive proof regarding the descent of angels upon the dying person. However, Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned that angels descend upon the dying person, who sees them with his own eyes, and with them are shrouds and perfumes, either from Paradise or Hell. They (the angels) say "Amin" to the supplications of those present. They may also greet the dying person, who responds to them with his words, gestures, or heart. Some dying individuals have been heard welcoming the angels, and Al-Qurtubi mentioned something similar.
