Does the death of a father, alone in his home for two days, count as expiation for his sins so that he meets his Lord purified, and what about his life in the Barzakh?

The creed of the People of the Sunnah (definition) and the Community (Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah) is that they do not definitively declare a Muslim to be in Paradise or Hellfire, except for those about whom a legal text has been revealed. However, they hope for Paradise for the righteous and forgiveness for the wrongdoers. Furthermore, the calamities and afflictions that befall a Muslim in this world are an expiation for their sins or a means of raising their rank. As stated in the hadith (definition): "No misfortune befalls a Muslim but Allah expiates his sins by it, even a thorn that pricks him," and "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were a prick of a thorn, but Allah expiates his sins by it."
