How can I commit to Islam and repent from sins, knowing that I repeatedly try to repent but then return to transgression? So, what is the path to guidance?
True happiness lies in filling the heart with faith, the remembrance of Allah, and obedience to Him. Whoever follows Allah's guidance will neither go astray nor suffer hardship, while whoever turns away from His remembrance will have a life of misery. The pleasure of faith surpasses all fleeting worldly enjoyments. The believer's paradise is in his heart, even if he is poor or imprisoned, and the disbeliever's hellfire is in his heart, even if he lives in luxury. This world is but play, amusement, and adornment, and its pleasures are transient, followed by regret. Sincere repentance and seeking refuge in Allah from Satan are necessary, as is remembering Allah's omnipresence and power. The repentant is beloved by Allah, and his past sins are forgiven.
