The answer

Punishment in the grave varies according to the sin. Some forms of it include: being struck with an iron hammer; the grave being filled with fire, and the disbeliever being clothed in fire; a door to Hell being opened for him; his grave being constricted around him and him being struck with a mighty hammer; being swallowed up by the earth; the corners of his mouth being torn to the back of his head; his head being crushed with stones; being burned in an oven of fire; and swimming in a river of blood while being struck with stones. Among the reasons for these punishments are: abandoning the recitation of the Quran and obligatory prayers, lying, adultery, consuming usury, and stealing from war spoils. There is also a spiritual torment where the disbeliever is shown his seat in Paradise, increasing his regret.
