The answer

Stealing your money is a grave sin. However, if the thief confesses, repents, and shows genuine sincerity, it is better to forgive him and conceal his fault, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And they repel evil with good" and "Repel evil with that which is better." And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever conceals [the fault of] a Muslim, Allah will conceal his fault on the Day of Resurrection." If he does not repent, there is no harm in reporting him to reclaim your right, though forgiving him is still preferable.
