Is it permissible to pray the Shaf' and Witr twice in one night: once after Tarawih with the Imam, and another time after Salatul Qiyam?
The Witr prayer is to be performed only once a night, and it should be the last prayer of the night, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) sayings: "There are no two Witr prayers in one night," and "Make the last of your prayers at night Witr." If someone performs Witr at the beginning of the night with one congregation and then prays at the end of the night with another congregation, they should pray with them. When the Imam finishes the Witr prayer, the person should stand up and pray one more unit (rak'ah) to make the Witr prayer even, and then make the salām. It is not appropriate for someone intending to pray at the end of the night to perform Witr at the beginning of it.
