The answer

If a breastfeeding woman fears harm to herself or her child from thirst, she is permitted to break her fast and must make up for the missed days. If she fears only for her child, she must make up for the missed days and feed a poor person for each day. If the thirst is mere and she does not fear harm, then it is not permissible to break the fast unless the fasting causes her an unbearable hardship.
