The answer

The illness that permits breaking the fast is one where harm is feared, such as severe headaches and the like, not a mild illness that is not affected by fasting. If you fear harm from an illness, you are permitted to break the fast, and you must make up the missed days. A nursing mother is permitted to break her fast if she fears for herself or her child, and she must make up the missed days. If she breaks her fast fearing only for her child, then in addition to making up the missed days, she must feed a poor person for each day, according to many scholars.
