Is it forbidden to distance oneself from a harmful female friend and merely offer greetings to her, especially given the questioner's feelings of psychological comfort and pangs of conscience?

A Muslim should choose friends carefully because a person is influenced by their friend, whether positively or negatively. As the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A person is on the religion of his intimate friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends." If a friendship leads to harm in religious matters or worldly affairs, then keeping a distance is better. There is no blame in distancing oneself from a friend and maintaining only a general relationship, especially if this is based on the family's desire.
