Is it necessary to distance oneself from irreligious friends who negatively affect one's religious commitment, and how can one distance oneself from them without upsetting them?

Among the most important means to steadfastness is the companionship of righteous and virtuous people. Every companionship for other than Allah will cease on the Day of Resurrection, and accompanying evil people will lead to regret. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, encouraged the companionship of the good, likening a good companion to a musk-bearer and a bad companion to a blacksmith's bellows. Therefore, we advise you to counsel the two girls and invite them to Allah. If they do not respond, then beware of their companionship and replace them with righteous women. Inform them of the reason for your distancing, so it may serve as a deterrent for them.
